INSTRUCTIONS

Using TUFF-TIE is a simple process involving three steps. If these steps are always followed correctly, TUFF-TIE is virtually impossible to break free from (withstanding in excess of 500lbs of force)!

Since we began marketing the TUFF-TIE, in 1985, we have sold over 5 million units.

Here's How It's Done

HAND RESTRAINTS

1. Place one thumb inside the loop of the pig tail to hold it stable. 2. Slip your other thumb ABOVE the locking block and slide the block down while the first thumb holds the pig tail stable. 3. Slide the block down until it is snug to the prisoner's wrists. After it is snug, make a simple overhand knot as close to the block as possible with the "tail" of the braid. This knot constitutes our double-locking feature, as the knot will never pass through the locking block if the block's teeth were ever defeated.

FOOT RESTRAINTS

1. Place one thumb inside the loop of the tail to hold it stable. 2. Slip your other thumb OVER the locking block and slide the block DOWN while the first thumb holds the tail stable 3. Slide the block down until it is snug to the prisoners ankles. 4. After snugging, as an added locking feature, make a simple overhand knot as close to the block as possible with the excess tail of the braid.

Slide the block down with AUTHORITY,

don't be afraid to use some force in sliding the block up SNUG to the wrist. As you slide the block down, you will feel some SLIGHT resistance. This is proper and is due to the close tolerances necessary for the teeth to "read" the braid. The teeth find the depressions in the braid and lock themselves in. From that point on, the harder that the prisoner tries to break free, the tighter he locks the teeth in place. In fact, in most instances, you will notice a back ratcheting of the braid for approximately 1/8" as the teeth read. Not to worry, it is part of the design. We designed TUFF-TIES so that there is a "reasonable margin" of forgiveness. Therefore, it is almost impossible to cut off circulation at the wrists.
